Climate Change Advisory Committee

The mandate of the Climate Change Advisory Committee is to counsel the Minister on Québec’s action in the areas of GHG emission reduction and adaptation to the impact of climate change, as well as on the directions and actions with the greatest potential in this respect. The Committee is playing an advisory role regarding the implementation of the 2013-2020 Climate Change Action Plan.

In this context, the Committee has notably been a stakeholder in the government’s deliberations that lead to the adoption of GHG emission reduction target for 2030. The Committee is actively pursuing its work on various issues related to the fight against climate change.

Meeting frequency

The work of the Climate Change Advisory Committee began in July 2014. The Committee generally meets four times a year.

Composition of the Committee

In order to ensure broad representation, the committee has 13 members, appointed from a wide variety of sectors that include transportation, industry, construction, municipal and health sectors, land development, energy, research and innovation, and environmental groups.

This composition ensures that the Minister can count on a multi-disciplinary committee with the expertise needed to advise him on a multitude of issues related to the fight against climate change.
