Québec, February 18, 2015 – The Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques will hold a greenhouse gas emission allowances auction today in conjunction with the California Air Resources Board (ARB). This will be the second joint auction held since the two partners linked their respective carbon markets on January 1, 2014.

The auction will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. EST. In all, 73 610 528 units for 2015 and 10 431 500 for 2018 will be put on sale at a minimum price of 15.01 $CAD (12.10 $USD). Québec and California bidders will be able to purchase emission units in order to reach the environmental objectives set for them through the implementation of the greenhouse gas emission allowance cap and trade system.
