Wastewater from Isolated Dwellings

Wastewater from isolated dwellings pose serious health and environmental risks if it is not properly treated before being discharged into the environment. Direct contact with or ingestion of this wastewater, which contains contaminants, can cause illness. These contaminants can also affect the water quality of lakes and waterways, and the health of aquatic fauna.

To prevent these dangers, the Regulation respecting wastewater disposal systems for isolated dwellings controls the design, construction, and operation of waste water disposal systems for isolated dwellings.

This webpage presents information regarding domestic wastewater management for individual treatment systems generating less than 3,240 liters of domestic wastewater per day.
