Minister Heurtel to Participate in Climate Week NYC

Québec City, September 19, 2017. – The Minister of Sustainable Development, the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, David Heurtel, will participate in Climate Week, taking place in New York City through September 22. The 9th Climate Week is organized by the Climate Group and will focus on the themes of innovation, employment and prosperity. It will feature a series of events attended by heads of government, business leaders and members of civil society who will come together to discuss issues related to climate change and the green economy.

The minister will participate in a number of high-level events to promote the proactive role that federated states play in fighting climate change, as well as the Québec-California-Ontario carbon market and other initiatives in Québec’s 2013-2020 Climate Change Action Plan. Meetings with members of various governments and international organizations are also on his agenda.

Climate Week NYC is part of the line-up of preparatory events in which Québec will participate between now and the 23rd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to be held in Bonn, Germany, in November.
